The Upper Picardy Hub / Presentation

The goals of the Upper Picardy Hub.

The Upper Picardy Business Hub is located halfway between metropolitan Lille and the Paris conurbation, within the London – Brussels – Paris triangle. There are two major Picardy towns very close to the Hub, Amiens and Saint Quentin.

Its location was decided on based on a set of performance criteria:

> The Haute Picardie TGV station, which provides frequent links with Roissy Charles de Gaulle international airport in 30 minutes. The TGV service offers quick travel to the main cities in Northern Europe. It also provides quick links with southern France, and soon with Italy and Spain.
> The intersection of two major North European motorways, the A1/E15 and A29/E44 motorways, i.e. the backbone road networks providing North-South and East-West links.

> The goal of the Upper Picardy region is to become a rural centre of excellence, dedicated both to the circulation of people, knowledge and expertise (business mobility boosted by the modernism of the transport systems), and also to functions linked to sustainable development (food, health-care and the environment).

> The region’s overall development strategy, which aims for Upper Picardy to very quickly become a centre of economic and social life adapted to the current requirements of the modern world’s decision-makers and executives (surroundings, quality of life, nearness to places where the decisions are made).

> Very short-term ambitious projects, especially the wide-gauge Seine-North Europe canal, which – in addition to developing a modern and environmentally-friendly logistics alternative – will make it possible to very quickly boost the establishment of “canal-side” business areas. The Méaulte airport hub also expands this range of logistics options, which can be adapted according to the company’s goals.

The Business Hub is organised into 3 different areas :

> one area dedicated to service activities – service providers and research
> one area dedicated to production activities
> one area dedicated to logistics
